Hello Devs,
I've been going over the faction cruisers and wanted to bring up a problem with the Gila. This ship is the -only- faction cruiser whose grid and cpu are less than the base model. All of the faction cruisers gain slot(s) and gain grid and/or cpu, except the poor Gila, have a look:
The Caracal/Navy, goes from 5-5-2 to 6-5-4 and gains 220 power grid. The Stabber/Navy goes from 6-3-3 to 6-4-5 and gains 25 grid and 50 cpu. The Vexor/Navy goes from 5-3-4 to 5-3-6 and gains 25 grid and 30 cpu. The Thorax/Vigilant goes from 5-3-5 to 5-4-5 and gains 0 grid and 50 cpu. The Moa/Gila goes from 6-4-4 to 6-5-4 but LOSES 30 grid and LOSES 10 cpu.
ThatĘs no way to treat a faction cruiser! ;)
It may be intentional (?) that the Navy ships (Caracal, Stabber, Vexor) are much better than the non-Navy ships (Vigilant and Gila), but even the Vigilant gains some CPU along with its additional mid slot. I am suspicious that the MoaĘs grid and cpu was buffed at some point but the Gila missed getting rubbed with the buffing lotion.
IĘd like to see the Gila with an 800 grid and 400 cpu, but iĘd settle for getting the numbers up to match the Moa.
Thanks for reading!

Moderators, why was this thread moved? This isn't a pipe-dream game idea, this is a problem with a ship and should be in the Game Dev forum with all the other threads of this type. Signature file size was [23,595 bytes], please keep it under 24000 bytes - Petwraith

The Gila has six high slots with a max of 4 guns or 4 launchers. It has bonuses for both missiles and hybrid guns. So it really isn't one or the other, why gimp rail users by reducing the grid? On top of that, launchers use -more- CPU than hybrid guns so again, why the reduced cpu?

Why yes... yes the navy boats are better. That knowledge doesn't make the Gila right though ;)

The two added launcher slots are a bonus even compared to the Eagle and its not an illogical thing to sacrifice pg for that, considering faction ships are rebalanced versions of T1. I don't find it at all weird that the Gila does not have the CPU of a T2 ship and it has some very interesting additions over your run off the mill Moa. I don't think this is an error or that the Gila is deserving of a boost tbh.
Just check the data:
*blows the dust off of his sig thread* Yeah it looks like they might have stealth bumped the CPU on the Gila while i was unsubscribed for 10 months. It was, according to the ship fitter of mid-2006, sitting at a measly 350 CPU. I still think adding a slot to the ship but removing power grid is lame though, should at least be the same grid. -= Save the Gila! Fix its grid! =-

Yeah i'm not so militant about a change these days, I think I'll take the link out of my sig and let her sink to the bottom. *sniffle* -= Don't you DARE call her ugly! =-
